Haitian-American Community Coalition serves tens of thousands of constituents each year, 98% of whom are Caribbean, Latin American, and Black Americans. HCC’s doors are open to all New Yorkers facing food insecurity, financial crises, social injustices, and unsafe home environments.
Haitian-American Community Coalition is a leader in HIV education, prevention, testing, care, and PrEP/PEP services in NYC. HCC also operates an Article-31 mental health clinic, supportive housing to people in crises, mobile community outreach services, English as a second language courses, document translation, and so much more through their vast network of NYC-based partners offering resources and benefits to those in need.
In the wake of COVID-19, countless people experienced food insecurity and financial hardships with nowhere to go and no one to help. That’s when HCC shined as a beacon of hope for their community. Thanks to a grant from the Robinhood Foundation, HCC collaborates with the Flatlands Community Partnership to feed hundreds of families in need each week. Another incredible way that HCC works to empower this community.

The Haitian American Caucus-Haiti (HAC-Haiti) is a community development organization operating in Croix-des-Bouquets, Haiti. The Haitian motto is, "L'union fait la force," which translates to, "In unity, there is strength." The HAC-Haiti motto is, "Lè a rive", which means the time has come. HAC-Haiti believes that the time has come for the Haitian and Haitian American Diaspora to unify to bring about socioeconomic change in Haiti. The primary mission of HAC-Haiti is to create platforms that mobilize local communities, empowering residents to become self-sufficient. HAC programs focus on strengthening individuals in order to advance the entire community.
James Solages, a 35-year-old Haitian-American from South Florida, is among the suspects in custody in Haiti for his alleged role in the assassination of President Jovenel Moïse, Haitian officials said.

STORYLINE:
A unit from the US Army''s 82nd Airborne has established a base to help some Haitian people desperately waiting for help following last Tuesday''s earthquake.
The army has established a base at a Port au Prince country club at the top of the hill.
At the base of the hill, next to homes destroyed by the earthquake, is a survivors camp that shelters tens of thousands of people.
One of the US soldiers helping on this mission is Junior Florestal, who lived in Port au Prince until he was 13, until his mother took him to Florida.
Now he is a member of the US army.
This is the first time he''s been back to Haiti since he moved away as a teen.
While helping distribute supplies, Florestal learned his family in Port au Prince survived the quake through a cousin who came for food and water.
Florestal is also one of the few soldiers who speaks the local language, French Creole.
Many are concerned that the food was only going to the strongest who can push their way to the front of the line.
They want the Army to cordon off the survivors camp into four quadrants, and then bring food and water to those areas.
But it''s a logistical impossibility, so instead the army invites children and women to come and retrieve food and water supplies.
In order to avoid people getting in line twice, they mark their fingernails with a marker to show they have received today''s food.
As the word spread there was food and water here, the crowd grew bigger and bigger.
