World's Most Dangerous Roads: Deadliest Journeys in Haiti in 2015

Deadliest Roads - Congo Katanga: https://youtu.be/1DT_ZQ3EkOk

Haiti is the poorest country in the Caribbean. 5 years after the earthquake which hit Port-au-Prince and the surrounding areas, the effects of the catastrophe are still being felt. To cross the country, there are only dirt tracks to transport people and their goods. Travelling the 80km that separates Gonaïves and Môle Saint Nicolas in the North-east takes up to ten hours. There is one bus which makes the journey, and it is far from a comfortable ride.

Haiti (Things to do - Places to Visit) - HAITI Top Tourist Places
A country in the Caribbean

Haiti is a Caribbean country that shares the island of Hispaniola with the Dominican Republic to its east. Though it’s still recovering from a 2010 earthquake, many of Haiti's landmarks dating to the early 19th century remain intact.

These include Citadelle la Ferrière, a mountaintop fortress, and the nearby ruins of Sans-Souci Palace, the baroque former royal home of King Henry I.

The perfect collaboration among some influential public figures to make a touristic video that showcases the most beautiful places in Haiti and to encourage tourists to visit and travel to Haiti. "This is Haiti"...They all have a common purpose which is to promote the hidden beauty of Haiti; the side that most medias don't emphasize on. Thanks to all the contributors who also share their footage with us including William Ramos, Badasses without borders BWB, Nicolas Dodard, Haiti Roots #haiti #thisishaiti #ayiti

With some trepidation, I fly into the Haitian capital. My guide picks up me up and then whips me through some Port-au-Prince's highlights.

Sights include the Iron Market, the voodoo statues in the Hotel Oloffson, the earthquake damaged cathedral, Place Jean-Jacques Dessalines, Place du Marron (home to some great statues), the view of the colourful hillside homes and the observatory, which offered a great view of the city.

All in all, a great trip, fuelled by a touch of apprehension and sprinkled with a dash of excitement. If you can ignore the huge amounts of trash, and the sheer amount of chaos, then Port-au-Prince might be the place for you.

I ended up crossing over into Haiti once again, except this time I was not expecting this...

A trip to Haiti is like a trip back in time.

Tranquil beaches, tumbling waterfalls and pine-tree-capped mountains; the raw beauty of Haiti's landscapes is certainly more than what most travellers expect when visiting Haiti.

Despite Haiti’s well-documented struggles, exacerbated lately by natural disasters and political turmoil, the pride and resilience of the Haitian People is evident throughout the country. It only takes one visit to witness the overwhelming kindness of its people and the breathtaking beauty of its natural landscape. A foreign land for sure, but well worth the visit.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

We were fortunate enough to visit the Caribbean International Language School during our time in Haiti and meet Augusnel, the founder of the school. They are doing great work in providing education and language training to the future generations of Haiti.

This film was shot across 2 trips to Haiti, the first, an organised tour with Siempre Viajero (a Dominican Based Travel Company) and the second was whilst shooting a music video for the talented Haitian Artist, Ayiiti Coles. You can watch the music video here - https://youtu.be/ny_h1LVB8J8

I decided to cross the border from the Dominican Republic into Haiti on foot.
I had to do it.
This was filmed before the latest earthquake in Haiti.
