Version complète rééditée et sous-titrée en français de ce film mythique de la culture haïtienne qui raconte le sort douloureux d’une petite « restavek » (enfant domestique). Ce chef-d’œuvre primé du cinéma haïtien par le metteur en scène Rassoul Labuchin (Yves Médard) filmé en 1980 à Miragoâne avec le support technique d’une équipe de cinéastes hollandais (NOVIB), a gardé jusqu'à nos jours tout son éclat et son actualité.

Plein d’images de la vie quotidienne d’antan, imprégnée par la poésie créole de Rassoul Labuchin et portée par les chants et rythmes vodou et la voix a capella de la chanteuse TiCorn, qui nous amène dans un monde mystique en incarnant la déesse Simbi, maitresse des eaux. Mais toutes les promesses alléchantes de Simbi aux enfants d’Haïti ne rassurent pas Anita qui rêve plutôt de s’enfuir: « M pap travay ankò, m prale » (je refuse de continuer à travailler, je pars).

Dans les rôles principaux, on découvre deux jeunes actrices: Chantal Guerrier, très convaincante Anita, et Magalie Marcelin (une Choupette émouvante) à côté de noms phares comme Suzelle Auguste et Konpè Filo.

A complete version re-edited and sub-titled in French:
ANITA, a mythical film out of Haitian culture, that tells the painful story of a little « restavek » girl (domestic child-servant).

This price-winning master-piece of the Haitian cinema by the movie director Rassoul Labuchin (Yves Médard), filmed 1980 in Miragoâne with the technical support of a team of movie-makers from Holland (NOVIB), has kept up to now all its spark and actuality.

Rich with images showing the everyday life of that time, imbued with the Haitian Creole poetry of Rassoul Labuchin and carried by chants and voodoo rhythms and the a capella voice of the singer TiCorn, who transports us into a mystical world by incarnating “Simbi”, goddess of the waters. But all the tempting promises of “Simbi” to the children of Haiti do not reassure Anita, who still dreams of escaping and sings: « M pap travay ankò, m prale » ( I refuse to continue to work, I am leaving).

In the leading roles you will discover two young actresses: Chantal Guerrier, playing a very convincing Anita, and Magalie Marcelin (a touching Choupette) next to well-known names like Suzelle Auguste and Konpè Filo.
